Listed Grade II*, the dairy was conceived to represent a tiny Italianate chapel topped with a bell tower, and with four corner pavilions.

The College was possibly the first school in the country to be founded by a woman in 1506. With thick stone walls and an open fire, there are views across the fields and Dartmoor beyond.

Built for John Lanvin in about 1835, the colourful front elevation is heavily decorated with flamboyant lotus-bud capitals. This second floor apartment is one of three.

The House of Correction, built in 1611, sits on the site of a medieval castle. A small prison such as this was intended to house minor offenders, today, only the grand entrance survives.

Tucked away in the pinewoods of the Shuttleworth Estate, Keeper’s Cottage is a model gamekeeper’s home from the late 19th century. The estate was once renowned for its shooting parties.
